For OEM versus aftermarket: Elite OEM brackets are cast steel and priced accordingly. A quality fabricated steel plate bracket, cut and welded locally, usually costs less and often survives California sun and Sherman Oaks hillside moisture better than the original casting. Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• A grinding or popping sound when the gate opens or closes.
